Dumfries: Northwest Church is part of the Church of Scotland. We are located in the housing estates in Northwest Dumfries. We are a church which seeks to define and shape itself in response to Christ's affirmation that the greatest commandments are that we love God and neighbour. We are engaged in a constant process of sometimes radical and painful change. In what we believe is a redeemed world, we are a faith community which exists to serve. We believe that we worship God through entering into meaningful relationships with the community around us. Through these relationships, we look for patterns of ministry and outreach which are appropriate to the unique and sometimes complex needs of our neighbours. We recognise the significance of Christ's washing of his disciples' feet and his affirmation of the value of those the world regards as last and least. In Christ we are committed to offering a welcome and a spiritual home to everyone.
Our worship has been described variously as radical, progressive, inclusive, liberal. It is all and none of these things. We share in the evangelical imperative to be be a community existing in response to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We worship together on a Sunday at 11.00am. Audio files of these services are available for download from this site. We regard the expanding community of those who share in our worship via the Internet and podcasts as a valued part of our church membership.
